A train of polished teak and brass, pulled out of Cape Town by steam, that crosses the Karoo, the diamond fields of Kimberley and the bushveld to arrive, nine days later, on the bridge over the Zambezi gorge in the spray of Victoria Falls. The observation car has an open deck at the back. Between the stations there are game drives, a lunch among the vineyards and nights so dark the whole Milky Way is overhead.
